ILE Closes
Posted on Feb 27 2008
It is with great regret that we must announce that as of close of business Tuesday, February 19, 2008 Iron Lore Entertainment has ceased active game development. Several unrelated events occurred which resulted in Iron Lore being unable to secure funding for its next project.
We would like to extend our thanks to everyone who has helped us in the last seven years – our team who moved mountains to create such great games, our publisher THQ who has been a great partner through three product development cycles, and most of all our customers and fans. We owe all of the success we’ve had to you, and our greatest satisfaction has come from creating games that have given enjoyment to the community.
While Iron Lore will not continue, the talent of the team is embodied in the individuals now available for other opportunities. If you are a developer or publisher looking to hire top-notch experienced developers, please send an email to pchieffo “at” ironlore “dot” com and we will be happy to facilitate recruiting with you.
Iron Lore also owns it’s powerful and flexible engine and tool set, and is actively pursuing licensing opportunities. If you are interested in further information about the technology and licensing options, please contact pchieffo “at” ironlore “dot” com.
TQ: Immortal Throne ARPG of the Year!
Posted on Jan 21 2008
Gamebanshee has named Titan Quest: Immortal Throne the action RPG of the year for 2007!
Iron Lore Entertainment delivered the goods in their Titan Quest: Immortal Throne expansion pack, giving players more of everything they could want in an action role-playing game: impressive battles, lots of equipment and artifacts to collect, and plenty of new ways to develop a character. Better yet, they wrapped everything up in a well designed campaign that led players through the dark and foreboding Underworld and forced them to face off against the likes of Charon, Cerberus, and even Hades himself.

IGDA-Awarded Best Independent Studio Also Adds Industry Veteran Steve Marvin as Design Director
JULY 17 - Maynard, MA - Iron Lore Entertainment, the acclaimed independent development studio responsible for the hit role-playing game, Titan Quest and its expansion, Titan Quest: Immortal Throne, has announced the promotion of Jeff Goodsill to President. While continuing to oversee the day-to-day operations of the studio, Jeff will also provide critical leadership in improving overall team management and strategic planning.
Jeff leads a highly accomplished management team that includes Brian Sullivan and Paul Chieffo, and brings with him a wealth of experience, having managed production of genre-leading titles like the Age of Empires and NASCAR series.
Iron Lore is also pleased to announce the hiring of Steve Marvin as Design Director. Steve most recently served as Senior and Lead Designer on Warhammer: Age of Reckoning at EA Mythic, and brings more than 10 years of games-industry experience to Iron Lore.
Named Best New Studio of 2006 by the International Game Developers’ Association, Iron Lore has forged a tremendous legacy in just a short time. Its first projects, Titan Quest and Titan Quest: Immortal Throne, have won numerous accolades, including Best Action RPG from Play Magazine and Top 5 Game of the Year from Games for Windows Magazine and PC Magazine. Iron Lore is currently developing an unannounced title and is gearing up to work on a next-generation console and PC title.
“Jeff brings a wealth of game industry experience to his new role as president of Iron Lore,” said Brian Sullivan, Creative Director and Co-Founder of Iron Lore Entertainment. “Not only has he been our General Manager for the last three years, he was previously the general manger of both Ensemble and Papyrus. I have full confidence that he will successfully lead us through our transition to multiplatform development and multiple teams.”
“Jeff has done a superb job of managing us through our early start-up phase; from team building to organizational issues to ensuring timely quality titles,” said Paul Chieffo, Technical Director and Co-Founder of Iron Lore Entertainment. “I really trust his judgment and am excited that he has accepted his new role.”

Immortal Throne Reviews
Posted on Mar 08 2007
- 9/10: 1Up / Games for Windows Magazine - "Iron Lore returns with Immortal Throne, the first TQ expansion pack, and it's an essential addition -- both to vets and to new players -- fixing nearly everything that needed fixing in the original game, while adding a buttload of new content. Nothing here is mind-blowing...but once again, all the smart choices, cool options, and creative little touches prove that the developers know exactly what they're doing."
- 88%: Atomic Gamer - "Immortal Throne builds on all the good things about Titan Quest. With hundreds of great new items, some simple but effective new features, and a dozen hours or more of gameplay (which multiplies with the new difficulty levels), any fan of the game will likely find this to be a worthy addition."
- 80% Strategy Informer - "Overall Immortal Throne doesn’t include a whole lot in the way of brand-new content but still offers good value for money and is a classic example of how to produce an add-on pack to complement an already well-received game."
- 79%: PC Gamer - "Immortal Throne's gorgeously rendered new chapter, Hades, is its best (and longest) by far, featuring a wide array of new, creepier-than-ever environments, sounds, beasties, charms, relics, and phat loot. Its worth the price of admission."
